Examples of measures taken by French companies against Covid-19
Those precautions, recommended by International SOS and WHO, aim at protecting employees, customers and suppliers.
Make sure that your workplaces are clean and hygienic
- Surfaces (e.g. desks and tables) cleaned by the cleaning person every 2 hours
- Objects (e.g. telephones, keyboards) should be wiped with disinfectant regularly by employees
- Why? Because the contamination of surfaces touched by employees and customers is one of the main ways COVID-19 is spreading.
Promote regular and thorough hand washing
- Place hand sanitizer dispensers in conspicuous places in the area of work.
- Display posters promoting handwashing with soap and water during at least 20 seconds.
- Why? Because washing kills the virus on your hands and prevents the spread of COVID-19.
Promote good respiratory hygiene in the workplace
- Display posters promoting respiratory hygiene.
- Ensure that regular surgical masks (rather than N95 masks) and/or tissues are available in your workplace for people who are developing a runny nose or cough at work, and closed garbage containers for disposal
- Why? Because good respiratory hygiene prevents the spread of COVID-19
Anyone with even a mild cough or low-grade fever (37.3° C or higher) should call the Australian Government Department of Health - recommended number and consult a physician. Be careful, medications such as paracetamol / acetaminophen, ibuprofen or aspirin can mask the symptoms of infection.
We advise you to comply with the instructions and restrictions of the local authorities of
the Embassy and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding travels, trips or large gatherings.

Travel
- Business trips are postponed or cancelled
- We are asking people whose relatives are travelling to places where COVID-19 is being reported to inform their manager and the HR department.
- You can find the latest information on where COVID-19 is spreading on the website https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/situation-reports
Coming back from a trip
- Employees who have returned from an area where COVID-19 is spreading should monitor themselves for symptoms for 14 days and take their temperature twice a day.
- If they develop even a mild cough or low-grade fever (i.e., a temperature of 37.3° C or higher) they must follow the doctor's recommendations.
- Avoid close contact (one meter or closer) with other people including family members.
Ideally there should be no more than 2 people per office. For offices with 3 or more people, you need to
organize themselves to work in shifts.
To the attention of collaborators in France
As the situation evolves, we would like to remind you a few recommendations and inform you of the following new decisions, which all aim to slow down the contagion as much as possible and protect your health, the health of our customers and the health of our citizens.
As a reminder
- Hygiene: good practices
Health authorities recommend the following gestures and behaviours to help prevent germ propagation :
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. In the absence of soap and water, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cough and sneeze into your elbow
- Use disposable tissues
- Do not shake hands, avoid hugs and kisses.
- Whenever possible, clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, such as computers, printers, telephones and desktop computers
The cleaning measures of offices are reinforced (desks, door handles, elevator buttons...) and bottles of hydroalcoholic gel are made available to employees and visitors.
- The right reflexes
- If you have recently travelled for personal or professional reasons to an area that is affected by the virus, or if a member of your household is quarantined, we ask you to report as soon as possible to your head of human resources and your manager and to monitor your health; teleworking may be an option.
- In case of symptoms (whether you have travelled recently or not), do not go to your general practitioner or emergency room. However, call the HealthDirect Hotline: 1800 022 222 or 000 for urgent medical help.
- The French government has provided a website open to everyone. Do not hesitate to consult it regularly: https://www.gouvernement.fr/info-coronavirus.
