Gulf Air Celebrates 5 Years of Moscow Flights

Moscow, Russian Federation – 04 November 2019: Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has recently celebrated 5 years of direct operations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation and organized an event in Moscow to commemorate the same. The event took place in the Russian Capital and was attended by members from the Bahraini embassy in Moscow, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibition Authority, hotels representatives, travel agencies and members of the media. Gulf Air’s Senior Manager Sales Mr. Rashid Abdulrahman AlGaoud hosted the event and delivered a speech to the audience which highlighted the strength and progress of the Bahrain-Moscow route over the past 5 years and its contribution to the solid ties between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation. The event included a number of interactive activities with the guests such as a raffle draw for flights from Moscow to Bahrain.

The Kingdom of Bahrain and Russia enjoy a strong trade and commerce relationship and Gulf Air values the Moscow route as it links both countries with a flow of tourists to both destinations. Gulf Air has launched a stopover programme in 2018 in which passengers can choose to stay from 1 to 4 nights in Bahrain and explore what it has to offer. The programme best suits Russian travellers when connecting from Moscow via Bahrain to the Middle East, GCC, Indian Subcontinent and the Far East to further promote the Kingdom of Bahrain as a tourist destination.

Gulf Air started direct flights between Bahrain and Moscow in October 2014 with four weekly flights. In October 2017 it announced an increase to the service becoming daily flights which coincided with the airline’s 3-year anniversary of direct, nonstop service to/from Domodedovo International Airport in the Russian capital. Gulf Air’s direct Moscow route is further supported by a Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) agreement between the airline and Russian carrier S7 Airlines enabling Gulf Air passengers to take flights beyond Moscow to and from various Russian cities including St Petersburg, Kazan, Samara, Volgograd, Rostov, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm, Ufa, Ekaterinburg, Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk.
